TERMINIM‘Cépages d’Or - Alder Springs Vineyard’ White 2019- Special Priced 3-Pack
The two vintner/winemakers behind this hidden gem of a White wine are none other than one of France’s Rhone Valley renowned winemakers, François Villard and Donald Patz, the founder of Patz & Hall Winery. Donald recently visited us to share his lineup of new wines because after selling Patz & Hall, instead of heading into retirement, he went straight back into the vineyards. This and his Secret Door Wines were the highlights from our tasting together. As collaborators, Donald and François visited the famed Alder Springs Vineyard in Mendocino County in early August 2017 to meet with owner, Stu Bewley and work out the beginning of a new wine project that became TERMINIM. It is a traditional Northern Rhône Valley styled blend of white Rhone varietals using the same techniques that François incorporates into his Domaine wines in France. This 2019 is a unique and delicious White that includes 21.2% Marsanne, 23.1% Roussanne, 23.9% Viognier and 21.5% Picpoul Blanc. In the bottle, it offers notes of stone fruit and floral notes that fill the glass with enough viscosity to give it weight but without it being overbearing. There’s a mineral component throughout the wine thanks to the Viognier. Picpoul Blanc is a lesser-known grape that is hardly planted in the United States (there are about 100 acres) and it provides the acidity to keep this 2019 vibrant. 275 cases were produced.
