This 2016 Oliver’s Blend Red is the twelfth vintage from Skipstone and once again is a great example of the quality of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the spectacular hillsides of the Skipstone amphitheater-shaped vineyard. With so many pockets of soil differentiation and exposures, Oliver's Blend offers nuanced aroma and flavor. Comprised of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernt Franc and 1% Merlot from their estate vineyard, this 2016 showcases renowned winemaker Philippe Melka’s ability to make great Cabernet not just in Napa Valley but in Alexander Valley as well. "Aged in 75% new French oak for 18 months, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Oliver's Blend displays black cherries, black plums and cassis notes with touches of chocolate box, star anise, menthol, pencil lead and cedar chest. The palate is medium-bodied with a sturdy frame of chewy tannins and a lively line lifting the black fruit to a long, earth-laced finish." 750 cases produced.
