Melanson Cabernet Sauvignon 2013Pritchard Hill

 Greg Melanson’s vineyard was for some time just a grower’s vineyard in that he sold his fruit to other wineries including Pulido-Walker, Corra and TOR among a few others. Now with Jeff Fontanella as his winemaker, Greg is producing a few hundred cases of his own Cabernet Sauvignon utilizing the great fruit coming from his Pritchard Hill site. At the top of the second driveway off Sage Canyon Road is where this 10.5-acre vineyard lives. This 2013 offering reveals notes of dark red fruit with blackberry and velvety tannins. It’s vibrant with fleshy dark juicy fruit notes. It is an inviting Cabernet and a great price for an estate Red coming from famed Pritchard Hill.
