The MascotCabernet Sauvignon 2016

This newest vintage of 2016 The Mascot was just released. As you may know, The Mascot is a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that Will Harlan began in the 2008 vintage as a small project shared among the family, their winemaking team, and close friends. It is made from distinct hillside vineyards, specifically the younger vines of BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory. The Mascot shares a glimpse into the evolution of its parent estates: a youthful snapshot of their future. Following several dry years, 2016 was a welcome change that not only brought in precipitation but also an incredible growing vintage. It is considered one of the best of the last decade for Napa Valley. For The Mascot, it resulted in deep aromas intermingled with bright fruit, gentle florals, and traces of fresh, wild herbs. “A sip reveals a polished core—a soft, inviting texture bonded by strength. These playful curves resolve towards an elevated finish, as well as light, colorful notes that dance on the palate.”
