LAZ 2015
The 2015 LAZ Cabernet Sauvignon includes 11% Merlot, 3% Malbec, and 1% Cabernet Franc, grown in Rutherford, Spring Mountain, Oakville, and Pritchard Hill areas of Napa Valley. The fruit was carefully hand-harvested, fermented as small lots, barrel aged in French oak (a variety of coopers, 60% new) and judiciously blended shortly before bottling on May 9, 2017. “Bright, lifted aromas of fresh blueberry, black cherries and dark red fruit dominate the aromas, while secondary notes of cinnamon, baking spice and granite provide depth and complexity. On the palate, the entry is broad and full, with a consistent sense of density throughout the mouthfeel. The long finish offers a texture of lush, silky tannins that will provide the ability to age this wine for the next 12-15 years.“– Celia Welch, winemaker. 94 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
LAZ 2016
2016 was a phenomenal growing season and in reference to previous vintages, it has the elegance of the 2014 vintage alongside the structure and concentration of the 2015 vintage. Through careful blending and sourcing from some of the best Napa Valley grower vineyards thanks to Celia Welch, we did take a decrease in production and as a result, we made almost 50% less for this newest vintage. “A beautiful clarity of fruit aromas displays ripe, opulent blueberries and black cherries, with more subtle base notes of star anise, rose petal, and vanilla. At entry, the fresh fruit dominates the palate, while the bright, juicy acidity and broad tannins follow in the mid-palate. While enough backbone and grip present themselves to clearly indicate age-worthiness, this wine shows vibrance and intensity, tempered by silkiness and viscosity, all of which combine to make the wine enjoyable even in its youth.” –Celia Welch. 95 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
LAZ 2017
"At first whiff, this multi-dimensional wine shows swirling aromas of blueberry, rose petal and bright cherry-vanilla cola notes. Soft and silky at entry, the mid-palate builds with flavor while the tannins remain full, soft, and approachable. As the wine slowly fades, the lingering flavors show fresh berry notes combined with a touch of dark chocolate." - Celia Welch, winemaker. The 2017 LAZ Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon combines 82% Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Malbec, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Each lot was fermented and aged in French oak (60% new) before blending just prior to bottling. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration after approximately 19 months in oak barrels. A total of 95 cases and 30-1.5L Magnum bottles were bottled on May 31, 2019. 93 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
