Domaine Henri GougesNuits-Saint-Georges ‘Les Pruliers’ 1er Cru 2018- Special Priced 3-Pack
For decades, Domaine Henri Gouges was known for making highly respected "vins de garde” (wines that benefited from 20 years in the cellar before opening up). But a recent generational shift has seen the estate move toward a more refined, approachable style without losing an ounce of their legendary power. These recent Gouges vintages are incredibly exciting and the best they have ever produced. ‘Les Pruliers’ is one of the most impressive 1er Crus in the village, located on the southern hillside where the soils yield wines of immense power and longevity. The sun-kissed 2018 vintage yielded a voluptuous expression of this site. It leads with dark plum, woodsmoke, and a hint of fine dark chocolate. While it has the muscular backbone you expect from Nuits-Saint-Georges, the tannins are remarkably polished and lithe, a testament to the new direction at the Domaine. This is a bottle that will age effortlessly in your cellar for many years, but it’s showing so much primary fruit right now that it’s pretty hard to resist at the moment.
About Domaine Henri Gouges
Founded in the 1920s, Domaine Henri Gouges is one of the most respected and historic estates in Nuits-Saint-Georges and a benchmark for the appellation. Henri Gouges, who pioneered estate bottling in Burgundy at a time when most growers sold their fruit, built a legacy of wines known for their authenticity and long-lived structure. Today, the domaine is run by the third and fourth generations of the family, who farm roughly 14 hectares of vines, including some of the most highly regarded Premier Cru sites such as Les Saint-Georges, Les Vaucrains, and Les Pruliers. The wines are celebrated for their depth, power, and purity of Pinot Noir expression, faithfully reflecting the varied terroirs of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
