This is one of the best wines we’ve tasted so far this year and that is saying a lot, considering we have tasted over 200 wines. Before venturing on her own to launch Gallica, Rosemary Cakebread was the winemaker at Spottswoode for over ten years, producing some of their best vintages. This Napa Valley Red comes from Oakville Ranch in the eastern hills and is comprised of Cabernet Franc with 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Their designated block of vineyard rests between 800-1400 feet in elevation and is farmed by renowned viticulturist, Phil Coturri. Full-bodied and rich, this Oakville Red offers lush, integrated tannins with notes of dark red fruit and cedar with underlying tones of pencil shavings and baking spice. 100 cases were produced.
