Fe'26' Spring Mountain District Red 2018
This 2018 vintage marks the debut of Fe Wines and we are excited to offer this to you. Fe is north of St. Helena along the same strip of benchland on the west side of the Mayacamas range with neighbors being Grace Family, Colgin's Tychson Hill and Vineyard 29. They back up to Bothe State Park and most of the 5-acre vineyard lies within the Spring Mountain District. Their winemaker, Aaron Pott, selected the clones and designed the vineyard with Pina Vineyard Management in 2013. The land had never been planted to any type of crop and they have farmed organically from day one. 26, the atomic number of Iron, is the name Fe (which equates to Iron on the periodic table) have given their Proprietary Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. 26 exhibits all the hallmark seriousness of an Aaron Pott fusion: fruit that is present but does not overwhelm, an impressive structure built of equal parts acid and tannin, and a savory mineral undertone. Hauntingly beautiful and finely wrought, 26 displays power without sacrificing finesse. “Boysenberry, Blackberry, pine needles, plum, cherry and savory notes fill the glass and lead onto the palate with youthful tannins that will benefit with a long decant.”- Aaron Pott, winemaker. 270 cases were produced.
