The 2018 Fulldraw Vineyard GSM Red originates in the windswept Templeton Gap area of Paso Robles. In collaboration with owners Connor & Rebecca McMahon, their site looks and feels like a moonscape with pure white calcareous limestone slopes. Massive diurnal temperature shifts in this part of Paso lets grapes develop sugar and phenolics without losing their freshness. This vintage is idyllic in every way, with vibrant notes of black raspberry, cassis, toasted spices, and violet, layers into a full bodied Grenache marked by its mid-palate depth and extraordinary finesse. GSM aka Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre is comprised of 66% Grenache, 17% Syrah and 17% Mourvedre. 50 cases were produced of this limited production Red.
Benoit Touquette grew up one of Burgundy's main cities, Lyon, before moving to Bordeaux to attend graduate school. He worked the mobile bottling lines to pay for schooling and it was while doing this that he got to see and feel the infectious passion of the winemakers he met. He quickly switched his focus to oenology and completed two degrees before moving to Napa Valley to intern with renowned winemaker Andy Erickson (formerly of Screaming Eagle, Staglin and now Dalla Valle, Favia and Marciano) before venturing on his own to become winemaker at Realm Cellars and begin his own wine brand, Fait Main and Teeter Totter.
