It has been a few years since last tasting Donum and their newest offerings of Pinot Noir are even better than we remembered. This 2018 comes from their estate vineyard in Russian River Valley, Winside Vineyard, which was planted in 1997 and acquired by Donum in 2013. The natural variations in soil across the vineyard, along with the blend of Dijon and heritage clones, results in a complex wine, with richness from the 667 and Donum clones and elegance and finesse from the Pommard and Calera clones. This 2018 offers “aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and a hint of cedar. On the palate is classic Russian River Valley cola, with fresh plum` and a touch of vanilla. Rich and round yet not lacking in structure, with a long, silky finish.” 94 Points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. 949 cases were produced.
