This newly released Cabernet Sauvignon reaffirms Dalla Valle’s status as a Napa Valley benchmark. Sourced from the organically farmed, mountainside estate vineyard in eastern Oakville—rooted in volcanic, iron-rich soils—the fruit benefits from warm afternoons and cooling Vaca Mountain breezes that deliver the structure and purity the estate is known for. Winemaker Maya Dalla Valle, with consulting from Andy Erickson and Michel Rolland, uses small-lot fermentations and French oak élevage to highlight finesse, precision, and terroir. Deep garnet-purple in the glass, it offers restrained notes of cassis, dark cherry, spice, and a hint of char. Medium to full bodied with polished tannins and a mineral edge, it’s more approachable than prior vintages yet built to age, balancing richness and vibrancy in the estate’s signature style.

Dalla Valle Vineyards, perched 500 feet above the Silverado Trail in Oakville, offers sweeping views of the Napa Valley floor. This extraordinary site, with its red volcanic soil and lingering sunlight, was purchased by Naoko and Gustav Dalla Valle in 1982, just before their daughter Maya was born. Now Maya leads the winemaking, having refined her skills at top Bordeaux estates. Although Dalla Valle has long been a standout, Maya is brilliantly guiding the estate into its next chapter.-K. Laz
