Crossroads Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 – 750ml
This newly released Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Rudd’s 48-acre vineyard, all 100% estate fruit and organically planted. It is a beauty, with an immediate nose of wild brambly fruit and baking spice that is synonymous with Oakville’s AVA. On the palate, the fruit component is balanced with acidity and structure that once opened, evolves in the glass into a hedonistic pleasure. 575 cases were produced.
You might remember that Rudd Estate used to make a second wine that was incredible for the price point and pedigree. For a few years they didn’t produce it but since Sam Rudd has taken the helm in the past few years, I’m excited for these wines to be in production once again. Comprised of fruit from their estate vineyards in Oakville and on Mount Veeder in Napa Valley, these are some serious wines with a price point that is truly a bargain compared to the quality of wine in the bottle. I would highly recommend trying some as I think you will love them as much as I did when I tasted them at the winery. I suspect these wines will sell out quickly due to their small production but more importantly, their high quality. These will be offered to restaurants throughout the country in the coming months so please let me know what you are interested in getting so we can ensure you get to try some.
