While 2021 marks the inaugural vintage, Bergman Estate was established in 2013 and is a testament to patience, unwavering dedication to quality, and a deep respect for Napa’s early viticultural roots. Nestled between Spring Mountain and the Napa Valley floor, the estate is surrounded by a preserved redwood forest, creating a serene and secluded environment. The 10-acre vineyard, replanted in 2013 by renowned viticulturist David Abreu and still farmed by his team today, thrives on rocky, mineral-rich Aiken soils layered over volcanic bedrock. Consulting winemaker Nigel Kinsman led the charge for this debut vintage with Brett Bergman and David Harris assisting. The 2021 Red Wine is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon complemented by 18% Cabernet Franc and a little Merlot and Petit Verdot rounding out the wine. It is “fragrant and floral, combining hints of sage, bay and violet with strong underlying notes of black cherries. Cocoa and vanilla nuances from the oak are also present on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is dense and concentrated yet simultaneously silky and fine, with a lingering, elegant finish.” -Robert Parker Wine Advocate.
