Aston Estate Pinot Noir 2016- Special Priced 3-Pack Library Offering - K. Laz Wine Collection

2004 marked the inaugural vintage for Aston, the new Pinot Noir vineyard that winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown and Schrader Cellar’s founder, Fred Schrader, planted together. The 14-acre estate vineyard is located near the remote township of Annapolis, approximately five miles and two ridge lines in from the coast-close enough to benefit from the ocean’s cooling effects, yet just outside the fog line, so days are long and temperate. The southwest facing vineyard thrives in a microclimate typified by full-sun days and moderate temperatures that are a standout in the cooler Sonoma Coast climate. As Thomas explained that after investing 20 years of effort into this now mature 14-acre plot of Pinot Noir, it has become more interesting due to an increased focus on small block fermentations, vine age and two decades of experience. The 2016 is “stunningly rich and complex with voluminous fruit aromas and flavors, tremendous body and silky mouthfeel, this wine is the epitome of New World Pinot Noir. The wine offers abundant aromas of ripe fruit including red currants, wild red berries, and black cherries. Focusing on the always-elegant Dijon clones, this Pinot Noir is fruit-driven with a soft smokiness and sweet smell of night-bloom jasmine. The creamy texture and refreshing acidity create an incredibly pleasurable mouth feel that leads to a long and satisfying finish.” 830 cases were produced.
