SLOAN Estate Red 2014

We have had the pleasure of tasting Sloan Estate many times in line-ups with other Cult Cabs of similar caliber and Sloan continues to be one of the best if not the best in the group. Sloan’s ability to age gracefully is one of its best characteristics. The 2014 Estate Red comes from their 13-acre Rutherford eastern hillside vineyard that was planted in the late 90’s by David Abreu and continues to be produced by Martha McClellan with Michel Rolland consulting. Elevation there ranges from 875 to 995 feet. It is a spectacular property with a full range of exposures for the fruit to thrive. The 2014 offers “a stunning nose of Christmas fruitcake, cedar wood, spice box, licorice and blackcurrants is followed by a luscious, fleshy, succulent style of wine to drink now and over the next 20 or so years.”
