Renteria 1st Cut Red 2014Napa Valley

The Renteria family has been in the wine business for generations both farming and producing wine. But now they're taking their winery more seriously and one of their first steps in doing so was in hiring Kirk Venge as their new winemaker. They also purchased the famed Brown Ranch in Carneros and have re-branded all of their packaging. We just tasted this new release last week and thought it was the highlight of the day. This 2014 1st Cut Napa Valley Red is a new wine in their line-up and is comprised of 46% Petite Sirah with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah finishing the blend. It is full-bodied, concentrated and juicy with rich black fruit, crushed gravel and purple floral notes. The tannins are full but polished. It's a great drinking, fun Red to enjoy on its own or with food.
