Ovid Hexameter Red 2013Napa Valley

I was able to get a few more 3-packs of one of my favorite wines of the year, Ovid Hexameter. Hexameter is only made in their best vintages and winemaker Austin Peterson makes that call. 2013 was a great vintage for both California and especially for Ovid. I’ve been fortunate to be able to enjoy this wine on a few different occasions – back in February and for the last few months. This was one of the best wines showing at our K. LAZ Spring Release Tasting with 20 Vintners. Immediately, the wine opens to notes of blue and black fruit with crushed stone and a gorgeous mouthfeel. The tannins are completely refined and silky smooth with a good decant. This 2013 Hexameter is the best OVID release I have ever tasted since its inception. "The 2013 Hexameter (a 500-case blend of 64% Cabernet Franc, 22% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot) is pushing perfection.
