O'Shaughnessy Mt. Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

Almost ten years after O’Shaughnessy Winery planted their Howell Mountain vineyard, they purchased Woolls Ranch on Mt. Veeder and planted 32 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon with a few blocks of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Carmenere and St. Macaire. The ranch in total comprises 265 acres of land. Since their first vintage, their Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the best Cabernets coming from this mountain AVA.

This is magnificent, with blue and black fruits galore, a dense, opaque purple color, and notes of creamy oak interwoven with enormous quantities of highly extracted fruit and velvety tannins in a voluptuously textured, multi-layered stunner. This wine still shows plenty of grip and tannin, so give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 30 years. This is a big-time winner.” – Wine Advocate.
